Million Dollar Quartet

Friday night, Anon and I went to see the Million Dollar Quartet, a musical put on by the Village Theatre (a NW outfit, I think). The setting was Sun Records on December 4, 1956 when a chance meeting/recording of Elvis, Carl Perkins, Johnny Cash, and Jerry Lee Lewis took place. The actors/musicians did a great job. Carl and Jerry were particularly good. The script worked its way through the beginnings of Rock ‘n Roll, religious feelings at the time about Rock ‘n Roll, the commercialization of Rock ‘n Roll, and of course the personalities of these four innovators.

Million Dollar Quartet

What I didn’t realize was that these four (and Roy Orbison) all came through Sun Records. I only knew about Elvis. Another thought that went through my head: I wonder if the piano setup has to be special for a Jerry Lee Lewis performance. He pounded the hell out of that thing.

If this musical comes to your town, you should go see it.

“New” Da Vinci Code……

This turned up on my ATT home page today….. Since these stories are usually up for only a day or two, I am including the remainder of the article in a comment….. Pretty cool stuff…..

Leonardo Painting Has Coded ‘Soundtrack’
Published: 11/9/07, 11:25 PM EDT
By ARIEL DAVID
ROME (AP) – It’s a new Da Vinci code, but this time it could be for real. An Italian musician and computer technician claims to have uncovered musical notes encoded in Leonardo Da Vinci’s “Last Supper,” raising the possibility that the Renaissance genius might have left behind a somber composition to accompany the scene depicted in the 15th-century wall painting.

“It sounds like a requiem,” Giovanni Maria Pala said. “It’s like a soundtrack that emphasizes the passion of Jesus.”

Painted from 1494 to 1498 in Milan’s Church of Santa Maria delle Grazie, the “Last Supper” vividly depicts a key moment in the Gospel narrative: Jesus’ last meal with the 12 Apostles before his arrest and crucifixion, and the shock of Christ’s followers as they learn that one of them is about to betray him.

Beowulf, An Epic (sort of)

I just seen an trailer for the new movie Beowulf Debuting 16 Nov. As many of you know we have referenced a project that we did several years ago for Jek, a video adaptation of this literary classic. Starring MR Central Alumni, Myself(J.J.) Jek, Izzard. and others. Picture this. I played the villain Grendel’s mother. OK wait for it, Me in a dress doing my best Graham Chapman Old woman voice, going after king Hrothgar (Izzard) ending in a epic fight on a trash pile where I should have won a Oscar for the longest death on film. (“DIE ALREADY” Izzard). Anyway I just thought I would mention this because we already did this film 15 years ago, I guess in this season of remakes of classic films of the ’80s it was inevitable. MR I think it is time to unearth the tapes of the films and re release it on dvd. We could put it up on YouTube and become stars, Ala Hardware Wars. Calm down I would never do that without written permission, Jus thinkin outloud.

DID YOU KNOW…..I didn't think so…….Pickers And Stealers

The hands. In French

argot hands are called cialis online “harpes, which is a contraction form of “harpions”; and harpion is the Italian “arpione”, a hook used by thieves to pick linen, etc., from hedges. A “harpe d’un chien” means a dog’s paw and “Il mania tres bein

es harpes” means he used his fingers very dexterously.

Songwriting III-Lyric Edit…..

Time to edit this “Twisted Fingers” mess…. We’ll start the editing in the comment section so that this Post doesn’t take a lot of room from the main page of the Blog…… Reference back to the other Songwriting Posts (I and II) to see how we got to this point….. If you haven’t been involved in this, you should check it all out, and, get involved….. You don’t have to be a musician to know what you like…..

Songwriting II……

Sorry for the delay….. Reference back to the original “Songwriting” Post for how this came about (I will put a link here as soon as I remember how!)….. I like Jek’s idea of “tightening-up” the lyrics….. I had thought of it, and was planning to do it in the editing phase…. The first two verses will have to be “tightened-up” to match the chorus’s and the 3rd verse….. Here’s what we got so far…..

Verse 1:
Sun’s up – No sleep for many a night, (MR)
Sun’s down – Time for a night on the town, (Robo)
Late nights can keep a good man down, (Sunn – edit MR)
Easy money and Bagdad Knights, (Anon and Robo)
First Class on the next LA flight… (MR)

Verse 2:
Alarm’s ringing and so’s my head, (MR)
Can I make it to Seattle, or be better off dead?, (Sunn)
They dumped me on this plane, (Anon)
Now I’m on the only train, (Robo)
And the alarm keeps ringing in my head… (Anon)

Chorus 1 (Edit by Jek):
Life’s been ordinary, (MR)
Everything in place, (MR)
Alarm ringing my head, (MR)
Can’t keep (the) pace. (MR)

Verse 3:
Locked in a bean ward, (Anon)
Tied to this bed, (Anon)
What can you say, (Sunn)
when all’s been said, (Sunn)
Still ringing my head…. (MR)

START HERE – NEED VERSE 4….

-Then Chorus 2 (Edit by Jek)
Life’s been ordinary, (MR)
Can’t stand the pace, (Anon)
Alarm ringing my head, (MR)
Out of place…. (Anon)

Then maybe a repeat of Chorus 1 and/or more verses…. We’ll see where it goes….
