how to get my ex girlfriend back – THIS JUST IN:
From an article in the Sacramento Bee about rock stars selling out to the “Man”. …..selling their music for commercial ads. Seems not everyone sold out.
“One example of going to far might be Preparation H’s bid in 2004 to use Johnny Cash’s ‘Ring of Fire’ to sell hemorrhoid cream. Cash’s daughter, singer-song writer Rosanne Cash, refused to allow it., telling Advertising Age magazine the idea was ‘moronic’.”

Doobie Brother now a secret weapon on terror
Rock ‘n’ Roll guitarist Jeff Baxter talks about being one of the countries top counter-terrorism experts. “Today” correspondent Jaime Gangel reports
Guitarist Jeff Baxter is a founding member of Steely Dan and a member of the Doobie Brothers. The 56-year-old Baxter has eight platinum albums and two Grammy’s but he likes to call himself a hippie rock guitarist with top secret clearances. Now, believe-it-or-not, he is one of the countries top counter-terrorism experts. “Today” national correspondent Jamie Gangel caught up with Baxter in between top secret meetings in our nation’s capitol.
I find this most ironic. Considering how, back in the 70’s the F.B.I. had files on many rock stars (John Lennon, etc.), considering them subversive &
dangerous. Ha! This really cracks me up
BTW, jek this is from MSNBC, so I didn’t check the urban legends site
I’d like to hear about some of the best live performances you guys have seen. I’ve experienced a lot of
great concerts, but two of them seem to stand out—King Crimson’s Lark’s Tongues tour ( the warm-up
act was Gentle Giant), and Jethro Tull’s Aqualung tour (the warm-up act was Yes).
With all the worship of the Beatles and Stones that goes on here, along with other 60s groups that may or may not be XTC anachronisms, I’ve heard nary a mention of Cream (or The Who for that matter, but we’ll leave that for another time). Last week on the local PBS affiliate, I caught the tail end of a live reunion concert they played back in May. It was a lot of fun, and well-played. I love watching Jack Bruce play fretless and sing. And playing “Politician” and singing, which is really hard. Ginger Baker has a nice, almost jazzy touch, which I never really noticed on the old recordings. That Clapton guy isn’t too bad, either.
This is a most worthy cause and should receive your highest consideration……. I need to raise a few million, possibly even a billion or so to accomplish this most needed project……. I want to buy the Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport, bulldoze it to the ground, turn the property back into a natural grassland, and graze hornless (no “Longhorns” allowed) cows on it…….
Why, you ask?……. Have you ever tried to make a flight connection though DFW?……. I just returned from Seattle and had to face this impossible task in both directions…… I was disconnected, misdirected, misconnected, misunderstood, misplaced, and displaced all at the same time!……. The place is so large and layed out so badly they need an airline and/or a helicopter service totally dedicated to getting passengers from their arriving flight to their connecting flight on time without causing brain damage and/or physical handicaps to us poor traveling souls…… You need a college degree in DFW layout and be able to run the mile in under 4 minutes to even have a chance in hell to make any kind of connection…..
‘Tis the season for giving, so let’s start those contributions heading in this direction…… I promise to keep only one set of books (well, maybe no more than two)……..
My problem is this:
I have a 5 year old IMac, on this I have lots of data and music saved upon.
I need a way to transfer all that I have saved on the Mac to my PC, or burn it to discs using the burner in my Laptop.
I really do not want to buy a stand alone burner to accomplish this, is there some type of cable or program that will help out?
No I don’t mean Seinfeld.
I have been listening to a show on the comedy channel on Sirius radio called “Brewer Unleashed” Staring SNL alum. Jim Brewer and some of the guys that he grew up with it is basicly a show bout nothing but Hilarious just the same.
My challenge to a certian blogger/poster…..
You are the keeper of the DOGG tapes It’s time to make them public, I think the rest of the world would laugh their butts off just like we did making them.
If the rest of you would like to hear what I’m talking about then add your name to this petition please.
Maybe MR could put them up on his home page, or maybe we could sell them.
If 6 were really 9 would that mean you’d get 3 more beers in a 6-pack?……… Would 3 X 3 = 6?……. Would you actually be buried 9 feet under?……. Would you have to show-up at 6 o’clock for a 9 o’clock appointment and/or visa-versa?……..
If Bush were a “Rock Star”, would he:
A. Play guitar
B. Play air guitar
C. Be an off-key back-up singer
D. Dress like Michael Jackson
E. Be Michael Jackson
F. All of the above (except A)
Ya take a small deviation to the Great Northwest (eh?….) and you just don’t find the time to post, or so it seems…. I’m still here and I really thought my fellow slackers (namely you, and you,……. and you, too) would give me a hand and Somebody, ANYBODY, would post something of some interest…… Instead, here I am posting this “non-post” in an vain attempt to appear interesting…… I know it’s the season to be too busy to post to this blog, but even though some things are too important to do , we must try to do a post or two – also (thought I was going to say too, didn’t you?……) Help me, the Holidays are attacking, time is lacking, I need a little backing…….. Please post or you will subjected to more of this inane drivel……. (Note – the key words to this post are: to, too, and two, and I was going to use 2 too, but desisted at the last moment)…….
Happy Thanksgiving everyone.
Hope you all eat too much and come away satisfied.
I am thankful that this blog was created so we can all have our own soapbox to shout from.
Well I guess you have all heard the news. Monday GM announced that they will close the Oklahoma City assembly Facility.
I worked for a GM contractor for 2.5 years and was laid off last Oct. and guess what the UAW did not do squat for us. We were told “that’s just how it goes” well now the rest of the workers out there are now in the same boat, and as I do empathize with all of them I will cry no tears for them.
They will now see what the rest of us have had to deal with for the last 26 years.
Getting up going to work.
Not knowing if you will have a job when you get there.
Having no say in your job (Do it or we will find someone who will).
Having no grievance procedure against management.
Living from paycheck to paycheck.
Having to pay a premium for health Insurance.
ETC.
And they have done it to themselves, $25.50 to $45.00 per hour wages, free Insurance, now there is nothing wrong with making a living wage, but 5times what the average for this area! Come on get real.
Where I feel sorry for some out there is most of them have no marketable skills, this is the only job that lots of them have ever had, and the average age of them is 52 years old, thats a little old to be starting over.
Also I guess GM does not care about the support companies that exist for the sole purpose of suppling this plant, and all of their workers that they have just unemployed.
As long as the board of Directors, and Stockholders NEVER EVER have to do without.
The employees of those companies are who my sadness is directed, some of those persons are quite possibly some of the finest persons I have ever known and worked with.
Johnson Controls Inc.
Collins and Aikman.
A-1 Rework services
QPS.
Flex-N-Gate. Ada OK.
Choctaw Express Inc.
Logistics Insights Co.
Penske Logistics.
and last but certainly not least
Logistics Services Inc. LSI (you don’t go thru a tornado with people and not grow close to them) My drivers I had there are the finest crew that I ever had the pleasure of working with, and treasure their friendship tremendously.
The employees of those companies are who I wish all of you to keep in your thoughts and prayers (if applicable) this holiday season.
I can only hope that this will be a wakeup call to the UAW that they can’t have everything they want, sometimes when negotiating on the employees behalf they have to look at the big picture as well as the future.
I have heard so many reasons this couple of days, the reason simply is with the UAW, Workers, and the Fat Cats in Detroit. No More, No Less.

The Nick Drake post is getting offtrack with computer talk, so I thought I’d start a new post. Randalf asked about spyware blockers and anti-virus programs. Here’s a quick rundown on various software and service recommendations. Anyone else, feel free to chime in with your favorites. Note: I did not perform anywhere close to an exhaustive analysis of available products/services, especially wrt ISPs. My choices are mostly based on a couple of positive experiences.

Camino is the only Mac browser I have found that allows you to use the tab key to go to a drop-down box, most commonly used for the State field in an address. It supports everything you expect from a Mozilla-based browser, including tabbed-browsing. |

If you practice safe surfing, then you probably don’t need an active spyware blocker; however, you should still remove inevitable spyware from time to time. Spybot-Search and Destroy is the only spyware removal tool I’ve ever needed. |

EZ AV is more polished than AVG, otherwise they seem comparable. One thing to watch out for is CA (makers of EZ AV) set your new yearly expiration date 1 year after the date you renew, not 1-year after your original subscription date. So if you renew early, you’ll lose those days. |
