Remember Pearl Harbor?
If you are a “Politically Correct” kind of person, then read no further!….. As of today (December 7th), it’s been 65 years since the Japanese brutally and savagely pulled-off their unprovoked infamous “sneak attack” against The United States at Pearl Harbor in 1941….. To me, the Japanese were far more fanatical and “Pure Evil” than the Nazi’s ever where….. Their atrocities during WWII were unmatched by any of the other Axis power countries….. Their total unwillingness to surrender – fight to the last man, forced the Allied powers (yes, other countries were in on the decision) to drop, not one, but two atomic bombs on the home island of Japan before they would surrender, which saved millions of Allied soldiers lives if we would have been forced to invade the island of Japan….. Of course, in the eyes of the bleeding heart society of today, we are the “Evil Ones” that dropped bombs on civilian populations for no reason….. People these days refuse to research history as it really happened….. That’s why we keep repeating the same mistakes over and over again….. A worker here at the shop thought Pearl Harbor happened in 1948 or ’49!…… God help us!…… At the end of WWII, Japan was denied to ever have an Army or Navy again….. Who do you think is providing and paying for the protection of Japan?….. You, the American taxpayer….. Add to that furnishing them an endless viable consumer market, allowing them to buy and own American soil, etc., etc…… Don’t get me wrong, I don’t believe the Japanese of today are of the same mindset as those of the WWII period, but, we do seem to give a “privileged status” to any and all previous enemies of our country….. I just don’t know how much longer our infrastructure can maintain without collapsing in on itself….. Oh, yeah, tax time is just around the corner again…..
Turkey and Gravy Soda — Just like Mom’s — Burp!
A couple of weeks ago, Tarn and I hosted a Jones Holiday Soda tasting party. We had two soda packages from Jones: The 2005 Regional Pack and The 2006 Holiday Pack (9 sodas total), and we paired them with the real dishes.

We also captured the tasting notes of various attendees. Here they are for your enjoyment:
1 Smoked Salmon Paté | Slight fishy nose, overly saccharin, lacks saline quality — 87 |
Too sweet for salmon | |
2 Sweet Potatoes | No aroma, candied flavor, caramel notes |
Caramel nose & overtones, slightly vegetable quality, candied sweet potato — 90
Burnt sugar nose, sweet aftertaste
Maple syrup smell, just tastes sweet, not much flavor
3 Broccoli Casserole | Gravy nose & color of raw sewage, possibly broccoli floaters, more butterscotch than broccoli — 85 |
4 Corn on the Cob | 1st one I dumped |
Smells like butterscotch & tastes like butterscotch & Alkaseltzer
No body, only thin butterscotch & candycorn flavor — ok but where’s the corn? (and where’s the cob!?) — 85
Fine bubbles | |
Buttery sweet smell but no flavor. Dies on the tongue
5 Turkey and Gravy | More raw sewage color/butterscotch & canned gravy nose with surprisingly similar taste. The closest thing to turkey I can imagine being carbonated & bottled! — 90 |
Disgusting | |
6 Pea | All green butterscotch — Where’s the |
Citrus finish | |
Chemical taste but not in a bad way
Best color | |
Least offensive so far | |
7 Dinner Roll | The logical progression of Wonderbread: completely lacking a crust and vaguely sweet-butter flavor. Completely awful, but on target — 88 |
More buttery than butter
Little flavor | |
8 Antacid Flavored | Although it looks more Pepto than antacid, flavor is good and on target — a great break before dessert! — 94! |
9 Pecan Pie | More butterscotch, but this time not offensive to the target flavor. Slight moldy overtone — but is it pecan? — 91 |
Leaves a weird film in your mouth. I kind of like the smell |

Van The Man
I’m settin here on the group W Bench checkin’ out Van Morrison on Austin City Limits on PBS and I must say Phenomenal!!! Doin some old blues, Country, And Big band stuff. Playin Sax and singin’ St. James Infirmary. Definitely some Great Ear Candy. I can’t remember the last time I saw or heard someone use a Pedal Steel Guitar and Country Fiddle in a Rockabilly setting. Anybody know Did Van Put out an album of such things?
A T-Day Tradition
Happy Thanxgivvin’ all my friends And remember ” You Can Get Anything You Want At Alice’s Restaurant” Did everyone listen and or watch the movie today? Hard to believe that KRXO still sticks to the tradition and plays it. So I’m just sittin here on the group W bench playin’ with the pencils.
Happy T-Day (Still Rainin’, Still Dreamin’)……
Happy Thanksgiving to everyone……. To borrow a phrase from Hendrix, It is still raining, but, there’s a strong Oklahoma wind mixed in with it……. I’m actually getting what I came for – rain and clouds…… Nice change from Oklahoma’s Sun, Sun, Sun….. Again, Happy T-Day…… Enjoy!……..
Taj Mahal Trio…..
…Still alive and well….. Taj does a week or so every Thanksgiving at The Jazz Alley in Seattle….. It’s become, what The Jazz Alley calls a “Thanksgiving Tradition”……. The last time we saw him in 2001 or 03 (not sure which year), he did a solo set , alternating between piano and guitar stuff….. It was great, but, in a trio setting, he really shines….. He hasn’t lost his voice or his licks….. He still does a lot of finger-picking and he has those huge Jimi Hendrix hands….. His thumb is longer than my index finger!…. No joke!……. If you don’t know who he is, then you’re not into Blues…… Been around since before Woodstock, which he played….. His original guitar player was Jesse Ed Davis from Oklahoma City….. You’ll also see Davis on The Bangla Desh Concert with George and the boys…… I’ll give Jek and Anon a chance to comment on him, the bassist, and the drummer…… If they don’t, then I’ll get back on and comment some more….. Great close to 2-hour show…..
