Podcast recommendations for MR?

Now that MR has an iPod, he needs a few podcasts to subscribe to. I imagine he’d want a blues one: a quick search turned up Murphy’s Saloon Blues Podcast. I have no idea if it is any good though.

Here are some of the podcasts I listen to:

What are your favorite podcasts?

  1. Really dumb question, Do you need an Ipod to listen to the broadcasts? Will an MP3 player do? Clueless not in Seattle.

Very offbeat but nearly always well done. I got off on the wrong foot with the program, my first listen being their “History of Pimping,” but give it a chance. They have one free program per week.

  3. jek, maybe you could write a book named “21st Century Consumer Electronics For Dummies”. I would buy it.

  4. Jek,

You paying attention? Sunn’s idea sounds great. There’s your product.

    KEXP has a podcast,

  5. I don’t know if I’m quite ready to start on podcasts until I get my music playlists up and running, although the Blues one sounds interesting…… I might give it a go just to see if I can do it (put me on the list for the “21st Century Consumer Electronics for Dummies” book, please)…….

Oh, yeah, I know this doesn’t concern this post, but, I didn’t want to make a separate post just to say that PDB is giving me grief on the VA story – He wants to turn it into another “Alice’s Restaurant”….. So, as soon as I can get him under control, I’ll post Part II of the story (I’m going to try to keep it from being a major work of fiction – Take heed, PDB!)…….

  6. MR,

You could serialize it like the old Green Hornet on radio. We’d be waiting for the next exciting episode.

  7. Good idea, Anon. Maybe do a PDB podcast. Do it like an old time radio show, with voices for each character, sound effects, etc.

  8. That would be great, Anon and Sunn, if you two want to furnish me with a sound studio and a complete sound effects library….. I’m having enough trouble just getting music uploaded to my iTunes and then downloaded to my iPod…. I don’t think I’m quite ready for Podcasts as yet, besides, PDB’s giving me enough lip on just getting this one story Posted…… He’s going on his Washington run tomorrow, so I will finish and Post Part II as soon as his little butt’s out the door….. You just don’t know how hard it is to write with a furry little Napoleon, with num-chucks, looking over your shoulder correcting and dictating every word you’re trying to put down……

  9. MR, I believe they make a mic that plugs right in to your computer. There are also several internet sites that host sound effect files. Shouldn’t be all that complicated, if you can pull of different voices for all the characters. I’ll bet that
character jek could steer you in the right direction.

  10. Yeah, Sunn, I guess like Anon on the PDB sketch, I’m busted!…. I have recording software, mikes, interfaces, etc, etc., and I know Jek would put me on the right track if I asked…..

The truth is I’m just not sure I want to commit to a podcast series at the present time….. Hate to make promises I might (probably) end up not fulfilling, know what I mean?…. I will think about it, though, It does really sound interesting…….

  11. If we are thinking creating podcasts I have one word. Now JEK,and MR listen real close,
    DOGG

    thats right
    DOGG

    (fits with PDB a little)

  12. I’ll mention them again to Jek in our next conversation, but, I doubt if Jek will capitulate…… I may have to plan a covert mission into his basement next time I’m in Seattle…… Sh-h-h-h, don’t let Jek know….

  13. Sounds like a job for our favorite little furry operative.

  14. Sunn: Most MP3 players can play podcasts, though you may have to manually sync them. Which MP3 player do you have? As for a book, I’m sure there is one although I didn’t find one in my quick search.

MR and JJ: You might have a bit of a tough time finding the tapes. They are in an undisclosed, box-fortified location. It might indeed require the services of PDB to squeeze in.

  15. J.J., as soon as PDB gets back from Washington, I’ll give him a top priority, top secret, culvert, underground (basement level) mission to the Great North West, eh?…… Jek’s super busy with a kitchen remodel at the present time, so, if PDB’s as slick as he claims, he’ll be in and out in a flash, although, I know that Jek has two very furry, heavily-armed watch cats…….
