A True Stimulus Pkg.
OK Chew on this one for a while, Tell Me why it won’t work, and I’ll Check back in a couple of months at all of your comments.
This is so simple, that is probably why it won’t work. They want to stimulate the economy. The Package just signed into place by Barock is going to cost $798 Billion. There are approximately 300 Million Persons in the US at the last census. Now lets say there are approx 200 million adults age 18-80. of these lets say 100,000 of them are worth over 1 million, and 1 million of them are incarcerated. that leaves approx. 199.999.000 persons. Send each of them a check for 1 Million Dollars US.Tax Free. Now I flunked math but that seems to me the government just saved $797.801.000.000.00 Most people will spend them selves silly, thus stimulating the economy. Most people will go out and buy at least 2 new cars, That would bail out the auto makers. it would create jobs for the new consumer demand. and the responsible of them would start some kind of savings plan thus putting money back into the banking industry. Thus it would empower the general public (oops, I just answered my own question, We can’t empower the public that would mean the Guvmint could not run our lives). Now as for the jobs that need to be created to rebuild the infrastructure of the country that the stimulus plan is supposed to be creating. IE: Construction, road building etc. Bring back the WPA and The CCC. For those of you not old enough to remember those agencys. The WPA(Works Progress Administration) And the CCC(Civilian Conservation Corps) [Dad always said they had another name for them I won’t share with you] You take a look at most Bridges in this country that are over 50 years old and you will see there is a plaque affixed to them that says the date of completion it also says “Built By The WPA” as well as most of the municipal buildings in the country. Now I know this will Piss off the overpriced building contractors that count on inflated government contracts, but with the afore mentioned million dollar checks they can do projects for the private sector. and as For the CCC We are starting to realize that we need to clean up the planet, Well this is right up their alley, our parks and national wonders need work done to them, The CCC built most of them lets let them maintain them also. These programs helped to bail the public out of the Great Depression (Yeah I know WW2 did also) It’s time we bring back what works.

If you gave everyone a million bucks, everyone would retire. Thus, no work force. It would be fun for a while though. Then there would be some who would want more & try to scam honest people out of it. Other people would spend it all in a short time & be on government assistance. Sounds good in theory.

I hate to tell you, J.J., but with the savings you claim, you can afford to send us each $1, not $1 million.
Let’s say your numbers are right: 200 million adults – 100 thousand rich folks – 1 million incarcerated = 198,900,000 people. If we send each 1,000,000 dollars, we’ve just disbursed 198,900,000,000,000 dollars. That’s 198.9 *trillion* dollars, or about 250 times the cost of the bailout bill Obama just signed.
Put another way, the bailout comes to about $4000 dollars for each of the 198,900,000 people above.
(It’s worth pointing out that this math is off by a factor of 1000 if we were speaking British English: in BrE a “billion” is what we in AmE call a “trillion”.)

Zook, we forgot to inform you that J.J. is very capable of thinking WAY, WAY, WAY out of the box on any subject, and, he learned mathematics from Jethro Bodine….. Lot’s of naughts in his equations……

Ok I forgot to put in a couple of decimal points. The Government does it all the time. Maybe that’s why I’m having such a hard time paying my bills. I must admit Failed Math Class. That’s why I hang out with you folks you keep me grounded. I’ll stick to things i know about.
