April One Petition….

I hereby propose that we make “April Fool’s Day” a National holiday….. You can celebrate the “Fools” that are in political office, or the “Fools” that put them there….. I know this will cause problems with our current system of placing almost all of our National holidays on Mondays, but we could do away with “4th of July”, lesser known as “Independence Day”, since most of our “Independence” has been turned into dependence on our government to tell us how to walk, talk, think, eat, etc….. For more details, listen to Frank Zappa‘s “I’m The Slime” on the Over-nite Sensation album (also on Strictly Commercial album), and it came out in 1973!…..

So line-up my friends, for the show that never ends….. decide which “Fool” you want to honor (it could be yourself), and let’s start a petition for a new National holiday (I’ll, of course, wait to hear what kind of responses I get from this post before I start a petition with my name of it….. I’m no “Fool”)……

  1. In the spirit of the MR blogging community, your follow up post could be entitled “What A Fool Believes”…………

  2. ….Almost anything, if they are truly a card carrying fool….. We’ve all been fooled at one time or another, even though The Who claims they “Won’t Get Fooled Again”…. I just bet they have…..

  3. “Hope I die, before I get old.” I guess Keith Moon was the only one WHO really believed it, although John Entwhistle wasn’t that old. Old Pete sure got fooled again.

  4. At a recent MC6 Music Night a participant played “My Generation RX” from thepartyparty.com (where you can hear it for free). It’s a pretty funny (if somewhat political) version of “My Generation”, featured a heavily sampled and edited GW Bush and Hillary Clinton. It features Bush saying “People try to put us down… just because we get around, things we do seem awful cold… I… uh…” and he just can’t quite bring himself to say the rest. I found it amusing.

I played “F The CC” by Steve Earle (google for the lyrics if you like ;-). A fitting protest song for these troubled times.

  5. I hereby nominate: The head of the FCC, The CEO of Clear Channel Communications, and Les Moonves the President of CBS.
Why? http://www.howardstern.com http://www.btls.com and my self for not going into the service when I could and having my college paid for so I could do something other than what I am doing now! As for the folks in DC. The Village called and wanted to know what happened to their idiots!

  7. See, even FZ would celebrate and support an “April Fool’s” holiday if he was still with us…. I bet he did take advantage of the day, I know I do….. So-o-o, this is fair warning to the MR Central community…. April One is approaching fast…… Be aware…….

  8. TTOP, I have always meant to give a listen to Steve Earle, but never have. Which of his CD’s would you recommend?

  9. Sunn… I only own Steve Earle’s latest album “The Revolution Starts Now”. I’ve seen him in concert, though, and liked it. You might check out “Just An American Boy” which is an audio documentary (he does a great cover of Costello’s “What’s So Funny ’bout Peace, Love and Understanding”. The stuff I’ve heard off his prior album (I think titled “Jerusalem”) was pretty good, too. I should warn you though that for a country boy he’s pretty lefty in his politics, if that matters to you.

  10. I’m still trying to decide if he’s a fool or a shuck and a jive.
