As I told our newest member, Maj7b5, we usually stay away from politics on this Blog…. Boy, am I having to eat those words, but, this came to me in the form of an e-mail to be forwarded on and on…. I hate to do e-mail chains, but, believe this as something important enough to be read and considered by the MR Community…. If you want, copy it and spread it out by e-mail to anybody and everybody…… ( I left it mostly in it’s original e-mail form)…..
Warren Buffet is asking each addressee to forward this email to a minimum of twenty people on their address list; in turn ask each of those to do likewise. At least 20 if you can. It has to stop somewhere. In three days, most people in The United States of America will have this message. This is one idea that really should be passed around.
*Congressional Reform Act of 2013
1. No Tenure / No Pension: A Congressman/woman collects a salary while in office, and receives no pay when they’re out of office.
2. Congress (past, present & future) participates in Social Security: All funds in the Congressional Retirement Fund move to the Social Security system immediately. All future funds flow into the Social Security system, and Congress participates with the American people. It may not be used for any other purpose.
3. Congressmen/women can purchase their own retirement plans, just as all Americans do.
4. Congress will no longer vote themselves a pay raise. Congressional pay will rise by the lower of CPI or 3%.
5. Congress loses their current health care system and participates in the same health care system as the American people.
6. Congress must equally abide by all laws they impose on the American people.
7. All contracts with past and present Congressmen/women are void effective 12/31/13. The American people did not make these contracts with Congressmen/women. Congressmen/women made all these contracts for themselves. Serving in Congress is an honor, not a career. The Founding Fathers envisioned citizen legislators, so ours should serve their term(s), then go home and back to work.
If each person contacts a minimum of twenty people then it will only take three days for most people (in the U.S. ) to receive this message.

I’ve always been against Politics as a career….. I feel that a person should serve his Country, especially as great of one that we have (yeah, we all bitch and moan at things, but that’s one of our rights too!)…. Our Country was NOT founded on the belief that it should serve ANYONE but the PEOPLE – ALL THE PEOPLE – even those rich, powerful, arrogant ones who think they are above the Law….. I had no interest what-so-ever to join the U.S. Army, but, my Country called on me to do so, and I had no second thoughts about doing it – Scared Sh**less, yes….. I served my hitch and returned back to civilian life….. I made it to Sergeant E-5 (Buck Sarge with 3 stripes) and became a Drill Sergeant, smokey bear hat and all, along with combat experience, which in the short 2 year draftee active duty tour was quite an accomplishment, if I do say so myself….. It also changed my outlook and perspective on life forever….. I think I’m a better person for it….. (Some of you may disagree, but, that’s another right we have in this Country)

As you know our political philsophies are very similar. I agree with that e-mail but won’t forward it. (blame Jek) I feel the movie Mr. Smith goes to washington should be required viewing for everyone. And he is right the founders based the govt. on ordinary people serving for a term and returning back home so new ideas could be introduced. We have allowed ourselves to have a Ruling Class.

same reason I didn’t do the e-mail forwarding thing, but, I thought the content important enough to be Posted and give everyone the option to copy and paste it into an e-mail……. Didn’t I explain that in the beginning of the Post?…… H-m-m-m-m…….
