I don’t have an answer, but I have a comment on the Quiz names. Personally I’d rather see a summary of the quiz in the subject rather than a big ol’ number. That would make it easier to figure out which is which in the Recent Comments section (to the right of the top of MRC) not to mention make it better for searching. I suggest something like:
“Edu Quiz: Column of Antoninus”
..for this quiz. Though usually shorter is better.

Antoninus Pius and Marcus Aurelius are TWO Roman Emperors who “ruled” ( served might be the more correct term ) in the 2nd Century.
The Column of Antoninus doesn’t exist today. It was cannibalized and used to restore the Augustus Obelisk in the late 18th century. The BASE of this monument now resides in a Vatican museum–the Giardino della Pigna. Until the Renaissance, The Column of Marcus Aurelius was thought to be the Column of Antoninus. THAT monument was topped off with a statue of St. Paul in the late 16th century.

The BIG BOOK, my only reference, mostly, was written in 1910 and is a great treasure of the arcane, but, as I have found out, not always accurate. I count on you and others to straighten me out. (I’m too lazy a DECIDER to cross reference all these quizzes)

I just found my mistake. I wasn’t wearing my glasses…..”The Column of Antoninus IN THE ‘MEMORY’ OF MARKUS AURELIUS ANTONINUS.” Must have been one of those Roman things were Marcus added on Antoninus to his name (title?).
Ah, I think I see where the confusion lies. The column was dedicated during the reign of Markus Aurelius.
The column was topped by a statue of Antoninus. There were no relief carvings on the column itself, but the marble base contained a carving of Antoninus and his wife Faustina being borne into heaven
by a winged genius, which Christian folk would call an angel.
According to the Big Book the column ” Like that of Trajan, this column is covered externally with spiral bas reliefs representing the wars carried on by the emperor.”………kinda like a press release in its day.
Confusion,confusion. No matter, you have received five points.
I would also have accepted “Propaganda” as an answer.
OK, I think we have this cleared up. You are refering to the Column of Marcus Aurelius. The reason he is sometimes refered to as Marcus Aurelius Antoninus is that he was Faustina’s nephew, and was adopted by Antoninus and Faustina. Antoninus’ column did not have the spiral bas relief carvings. It’s pretty easy to see why the pre-Renaissance scholars were so confused.

Hmm, better. Why not drop the E-? E means too many things. They are already in the Education cat. Also, no need to change the previous quiz subjects.
