DID YOU KNOW…( I didn't think so)

Religious broadcaster Pat Robertson leg presses one ton……attributes

energy in part to “his age-defying protein shake.”

  1. That guy apparently gets well paid for being a kook and a liar.

There is no way on earth Robertson leg presses 2,000 pounds. That would mean a 76-year-old man broke the all-time Florida State University leg press record by 665 pounds over Dan Kendra. 665 pounds. Further, when he set the record, they had to modify the leg press machine to fit 1,335 pounds of weight. Plus, Kendra’s capillaries in his eyes burst. Burst. Where in the world did Robertson even find a machine that could hold 2,000 pounds at one time? And how does he still have vision?

  2. Burst capillaries, huh? We could hope.

There was a qualifier in the article, todays Seattle PI. “Robertson said he did the 2,000-pound lift on an inclined leg press with the machine’s brake on, which means he did not have to lift the weight the whole way.” He was 73.

Well, that explains how a 73yr. old man (with divine help) could press that much (deleted by MR).

Says there is a video on CBN’s Web site showing him pressing 1,000 pounds. Think I’ll go look.

  3. Found it…..under:

    Pat’s age-defying protein shake.

Didn’t see any busted capillaries, but his face was a little pink. Impressive looking machine.

  4. Are you sure it was “age-defying protein shake” and not “gravity-defying protein shake”?….. Are we sure he was on Earth?…. What’s pressing 2000 pounds got to do with God and getting into heaven anyway?…… Can you say “BOZO who wants to make money off the name of God”?….. No, then try S-C-A-M…..

I didn’t edit you comment, Anon, but shouldn’t that read “could shovel that much s*** and get away with it”?…..

  5. He’s a great humorist most of the time.

No doubt he’s building up his strength for an in-the-ring d-match showdown with Hugo Chavez.

Yeah, this one doesn’t pass the smell test. I’m glad to know the record. People who’ve never done leg press are often surprised how much they can do. I can do 550 lb pretty easily, and I’m weak as a kitten on benchpress. But 2000 lb, c’mon! And such a convenient, nice round number.

  7. I think he was rounding off.

    That’s it!

  9. As I’ve only watched Pat Robertson a couple of times quite awhile ago as I don’t watch much regular TV, I came down a bit hard on him by lumping him in with the bulk of the TV religious Evangelists that push “prayer towels” and all sorts of other things for donations to their causes…. After thinking about the shows of his I saw, I remember that he did pass on very relevant points on the modern world…. I guess my quick reaction was triggered by my experience with my father…. As his health was failing, he began to watch all these religious shows and his mailbox started to be flooded with all kinds of “donation” mail – one of which was a “prayer towel” guaranteed to improve your health which turned out to be nothing more than a “paper towel” with a little printing on it… He was sending donations to everyone one of these “scams”…. It got to be quite a sum of money – so bad,in fact, that we had to start going through his in and out mail flow to cut it down…. Just hearing one of these so-called saviours that prey on the elderly just sets me off…. So-o, I apologize in this case and hope anybody understands…..

  10. Benn Hinn’s (sp?), my favorite comb-over, healing gigs makes the hair stand up on the back of my neck. Then there is perpetually crying Jan of the uber eye lashes and her “Love Gifts”. A friends mother who was dying bought into it like your dad. Very sad.

Benny was outed as a healing fraud but that doesn’t seem to bother the faithful. Pat and his ilk and their political pronouncements are more dangerous than sad. But, as time goes on and they turn into charactures of themselves, they are a good laugh.

I believe that “God” answers all prayers, and that, about fifty percent of the time, the answer is “no”.
