It’s Done, Done and Done……

I had an interesting Christmas day……. I had a visit from my brother, talked to my son a couple of times in Seattle……. Both nice things in themselves, but, I mostly spent the day in Too-Loose studios with a guitar, a mike, a Tascam US-122 interface and my laptop with Cubase SL recording/mixing program and I managed to eek out a rough demo of “A Season’s Song”…… Yes, just as promised, it’s done, done, and done!…… I’m including two versions – one high quality for those with high-speed connection or if you want to spend the time on dial-up for the quality, and one low quality (less than half the file size) for those on dial-up or if you think it might not be worth checking out…… I take no responsibility concerning your taste…… I’m not that great of a singer……. I wish Randalf would have still been in town and I would have tried to sucker him into doing the vocals for me……. So-o-o, if you want it, here it is, come and get it……..

A Season’s Song: HIGH (3.84MB 128kbps) or LOW (1.68MB 56kbps)

Let me know what you think……. Good, Bad, or Ugly…….

  1. Ok, Now how about the chords.

  2. Ha-Ha…… In tribute to John Lennon and Jimi Hendrix (and because of my vocal range), It’s in the key of E-flat minor….. For us guitarists, it’s just a matter of tuning down a half-step and playing normal chords, or you don’t have to tune down and just play it in E minor….. I’ll post them with the lyrics on the Original post tomorrow…. I’ve heard enough of it for today….. Should I trust you with the chords?….. Since you want the chords I will assume you liked it somewhat?….. eh?

  3. A very good beginning of a new xmas classic. Next year when you dig it back out I look forward to laying down some percussion on it,and backing vocals. You sell yourself short as a vocalist remember I’ve heard most of what you have done but have you noticed that your E-flat is getting flatter(just a dig buddy boy) It’s everything that I expected and more another quality product from Too-Loose Prod. Very well done.

  4. I like the song. The song itself sounds to me like something that could have been written by CSN. That being said, if you could round up some muscians to give itsome CSN type harmonies it would really help immensely. Nice effort.

  5. Merry Christmas!
Random told me about the tune, so I popped in to hear it. He asked me to let him know who the vocals reminded me of. Rickey and I both think it sounds a bit like our Dan.

    It’s a good tune, Mr.

Oh, and Happy New Year to you as well. Ring me sometime.

  6. Trust me. I say trust me. Besides, if I sell it to a soap company I’ll cut you in. I promise.

  7. Anon, the problems you cause…… Since this blog is written in HTML it doesn’t want to cooperate in lining up the chord names above the lyrics with the right spacing…. It just doesn’t like long strings of spaces….. I tried two different ways and spent about 2 hours trying to get it to work….. I’m going to have to call Big Jek in on this one…. For now I’ve pulled the original post until we get it corrected…. Hold on, It’s Comin’….. Besides, if I give you the chords, you’ll just use ’em…. eh?………

  8. My mother said the same thing. “Why cant you be like other boys?” I was.

You could just write out the chords and I could figure out the rest.

I’m sorry Momma. I wont do it again. Promise.

  9. Okay, Anon, the Original post is back up WITH the chords…. It’s slightly different than the recording in a couple of places, but what do you expect from a Too-Loose Production, anyway…. Rubber Biscuit!…….. It even strained Jek a bit getting it to work right…. Now, don’t be turnin’ them all around and stuff….. Enjoy!….

  10. Nice track MR. I like it. Before you completed the work, I jotted down some lyrics while on the bus the other day. If you’re still accepting changes, I’ll find and post them.

If you’re wondering about the chords and lyrics in the previous post, the trick is to specify a monospaced font so that spaces and letters are the same width. The real challenge was figuring out which level to place the style setting, as WordPress applies its own styles later.

  11. Always room for improvements, Jek….. You can either post ’em or e-mail ’em to me…. We’ve got about 10 or 11 months before it needs to be finished….. Good thing Christmas only comes once a year…..

  12. OK, here goes. This is a start of a different chorus. No offense, but the “Merry Christmas to You and…” seems somewhat trite. Below is the bit I jotted on the bus. I wrote it before hearing your music–so I’m not sure it fits. Feel free to use it, hack it, or ignore it.

    This season’s song
Will be the best of all
    Sing it, Shout it, Belong
    A new beginning is here
With Love for you, Love for you
Love for all, Love for all
