World Series

I know most of the people on here aren’t big sports fans. But since this blog does contain a “sports” category, I thought I’d post anyways. I have loved baseball for most of my life. I for one, thought this was the best 4 game world series I’ve seen. Every game went down to the last out. Anyone else have any comments or thoughts on the series? Now back to watching the Sooners trying to stave off the Cornhuskers.

  1. Excellent series! I wish it hadn’t been a sweep, though. Houston played much better than the 4-0 outcome would seem to indicate. I’m glad the White Sox won, though. I had Buhrle, Garcia, and Lidge on my fantasy team this year.

I’m a pretty rabid baseball fan, but I didn’t watch a single game of the series this year.
None of my favorite teams made it to the series, and I just didn’t care who won. I did see
the highlights on ESPN, and they were really good games.
First time the Sooners have won in Lincoln since the Switzer era. Sweet.
My Denver Broncos should have their hands full tomorrow with McNabb & T.O. (terribly offensive).

  3. I’m a big baseball fan. The division and league championship series weren’t as good as usual, but the world series was great. I agree — best 4 game sweep I’ve seen.

All the bad calls were a big disappointment.

Also, I’m mildly irritated with Garcia, who ended up with something like 3-0 and less than 2 ERA. Why couldn’t he have pitched like that for Seattle in the playoffs?

  4. The bad umpire calls are a great part of baseball lore. I agree, though. Don’t think I’ve seen as many missed calls as there were in this post season. However, I strongly believe that instant replay shouldn’t be part of baseball. Just my opinion. I’m sure it will probably happen eventually. Hopefully, later than sooner.

  5. I think Freddy is(was?) a head case and he was at the point where he couldn’t get out of the losing mindset in Seattle. He needed a change of scenery. I’m glad we traded him — we got Jeremy Reed in the deal — and Garcia was a few months away from being a free agent anyway.

  6. On a somewhate different note, Do you find it ironic that when Seattle unloaded Griffey,Johnson & A-Rod, they had their best seasons ever. Yankee followers are now calling acquiring A-Rod, the curse of A-Rod (I guess somewhat the equivalent of Curse of the Bambino).
