{"id":628,"date":"2008-01-29T06:25:09","date_gmt":"2008-01-29T12:25:09","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.mrambler.com\/blog\/?p=628"},"modified":"2008-01-29T06:25:09","modified_gmt":"2008-01-29T12:25:09","slug":"electric-guitar-home","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.mrambler.com\/blog\/2008\/01\/29\/electric-guitar-home\/","title":{"rendered":"Electric Guitar Home?&#8230;.."},"content":{"rendered":"<p>As I was driving home a couple of days ago, I saw this new huge billboard with the following:<\/p>\n<p>The first line was in huge capitol letters taking up most of the top half of the bill board &#8211; <strong>OKLAHOMA<\/strong> &#8211;  In much smaller letters the following was proclaimed:  <em>&#8220;The electric guitar was invented in our great state.&#8221;<\/em>&#8230;&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>I was always under the impression that the <em>Electric Guitar<\/em> was invented by <strong>Leo Fender<\/strong> in 1948 with the introduction of the <strong>&#8220;Broadcaster&#8221;<\/strong> &#8211; a <em>Telecaster<\/em> forerunner&#8230;..  As much as I&#8217;d like to think that the home of the <strong>Electric Guitar<\/strong> is <strong>Oklahoma<\/strong>, I don&#8217;t think <strong>Leo<\/strong> was from <em>Oklahoma<\/em>&#8230;..  I know that electric pick-ups for use in acoustic guitars have been around since the &#8217;30&#8217;s, but, like I said, I thought <strong>Leo<\/strong> was first with the <strong>Electric Guitar<\/strong>&#8230;..
