{"id":317,"date":"2006-09-07T19:08:19","date_gmt":"2006-09-08T00:08:19","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.mrambler.com\/blog\/?p=317"},"modified":"2006-09-07T19:08:19","modified_gmt":"2006-09-08T00:08:19","slug":"va-the-best","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.mrambler.com\/blog\/2006\/09\/07\/va-the-best\/","title":{"rendered":"VA The Best!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Wow.&nbsp; This just in: The VA is the best.&nbsp; Check out this <a href=\"http:\/\/www.time.com\/time\/magazine\/article\/0,9171,1376238-1,00.html\">Time Magazine Article: &#8220;How VA Hospitals Became The Best&#8221;<\/a>.&nbsp; It totally makes sense: <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The system is self-contained.&nbsp; The technology need not integrate with outside systems and all patient information is available inside.<\/li>\n<li>The VA has patients for life; so it is in their best interest to invest heavily in preventative medicine.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Here&#8217;s a good bit at the end of the article:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\n&#8230;conservatives fear such an arrangement would be a Trojan horse, setting up an even larger national health-care program and taking more business from the private sector. Congress has no plans to enlarge the scope of veterans&#8217; health care&#8211;much less consider it a model for, say, a government-run system serving nonvets. But it&#8217;s becoming more and more &#8220;ideologically inconvenient for some to have such a stellar health-delivery system being run by the government,&#8221; says Margaret O&#8217;Kane, president of the National Committee for Quality Assurance, which rates health plans for businesses and individuals.
