I ever knew….. \u00c2\u00a0I received the sad news from Jek<\/strong><\/em> today of Holstein’s<\/strong><\/em> passing…. \u00c2\u00a0Any of you, and there are a few, who remember Jek’s<\/strong><\/em> childhood dog<\/em>, Lucy<\/strong><\/em>, Holstein<\/strong><\/em> is, at this moment, sitting right next to Lucy<\/strong><\/em> discussing their likes and dislikes of Master Jek<\/strong><\/em>….. \u00c2\u00a0They were both more human than a lot of people I know<\/em>, and that’s not stretching the truth<\/em> one bit!….. \u00c2\u00a0I personally will miss her, despite the few small claw scars<\/em> I have when I bugged her just a smidgen too much…. \u00c2\u00a0Good cats<\/strong> are easy to find, Cats<\/strong> like Holstein<\/strong><\/em> are a God<\/strong> send….<\/p>\n

Jek<\/strong><\/em> gave me permission to reprint this e-mail that he and Tarn<\/strong><\/em> sent to family and friends<\/strong><\/em>, and, I think Jek<\/strong><\/em> and Tarn<\/strong><\/em> consider the MR Community<\/strong><\/em> as family<\/em> as well……<\/p>\n

Dear friends and family,<\/strong><\/em><\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Thursday<\/strong> we said goodbye to Holstein<\/strong><\/em> (aka Bein Bein<\/strong><\/em>), our beloved feline family member of almost 12 years<\/em>. Holstein<\/strong><\/em> came with our house, but as an outdoor cat not particularly interested in people. Our early attempts at vet care didn’t help endear her to us, but after a year or so she decided that winter nights were best spent indoors.\u00c2\u00a0We fashioned a bell on the front doorknob, and she trained us<\/strong> to let her out when she rang it. Always a\u00c2\u00a0purring, loving cat, she mellowed over the years, finally becoming a lap-cat who enjoyed the cat brush and even direct application of a vacuum.\u00c2\u00a0Holstein<\/strong><\/em> had a knack for stumping the vet with various ailments, dealing with each new challenge as if it were a mountain to conquer<\/em>.\u00c2\u00a0Everyone at the vet was always happy to see her, and her doctor called her the sweetest cat in the practice<\/em>. She still loved to go outside, and she’d routinely sharpen her claws<\/em> as if she we about to go on a big hunt<\/em>, though typically she’d just end up on the front porch surveying her land<\/em>, keeping an eye on those chirping birds<\/strong>. Those of you who knew Holstein<\/strong><\/em> may have been lucky enough to have her “kiss”<\/strong><\/em> you by nudging her face into yours, usually followed by a scratchy tongue attack<\/strong><\/em> on your cheek. We love you Holstein<\/strong><\/em>.<\/div>\n
