{"id":1394,"date":"2011-03-12T15:47:52","date_gmt":"2011-03-12T20:47:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.mrambler.com\/blog\/?p=1394"},"modified":"2011-03-12T15:47:52","modified_gmt":"2011-03-12T20:47:52","slug":"its-time-time-time","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.mrambler.com\/blog\/2011\/03\/12\/its-time-time-time\/","title":{"rendered":"It&#8217;s Time, Time, Time&#8230;.."},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We all get to<strong> &#8220;Time Travel&#8221;<\/strong> one hour into the <em>future<\/em>, well, it&#8217;s not really time travel, but, we do <strong><em>&#8220;Spring Forward&#8221;<\/em><\/strong> and <em>lose<\/em> an hour until next <strong>Fall<\/strong> <em>(huh?)<\/em>&#8230;.. \u00c2\u00a0What a pain, resetting all your clocks, including that uncooperative internal body clock &#8211; that&#8217;s the one that gives me the most trouble&#8230;..<\/p>\n<p>A little history on <strong>DST<\/strong>: \u00c2\u00a0The idea was first floated back in 1784 by one\u00c2\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/us.rd.yahoo.com\/dailynews\/search\/yblog_newsroom\/sc_yblog_newsroom\/storytext\/time-to-spring-ahead-daylight-saving-time\/40630888\/*http:\/\/search.yahoo.com\/search?p=Benjamin+Franklin&amp;cs=bz&amp;fr=buzz\">Benjamin Franklin<\/a>. While minister of France he wrote the essay &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/us.rd.yahoo.com\/dailynews\/search\/yblog_newsroom\/sc_yblog_newsroom\/storytext\/time-to-spring-ahead-daylight-saving-time\/40630888\/*http:\/\/search.yahoo.com\/search?p=An+Economical+Project+for+Diminishing+the+Cost+of+Light&amp;ei=UTF-8&amp;fr=moz35\">An Economical Project for Diminishing the Cost of Light<\/a>.&#8221; The idea failed to see the\u00c2\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/us.rd.yahoo.com\/dailynews\/yblog_newsroom\/sc_yblog_newsroom\/storytext\/time-to-spring-ahead-daylight-saving-time\/40630888\/SIG=13s4ctfkp\/*http:\/\/news.nationalgeographic.com\/news\/2011\/11\/110311-daylight-savings-2011-time-savings-when-does-spring-forward-nation\/\">light of day<\/a> until practically 100 years later, when the U.S. railroads instituted a standardized time for their train schedules. That time change was imposed nationally during the first World War to conserve energy, but was repealed after the war ended.
