{"id":1075,"date":"2010-08-25T18:45:59","date_gmt":"2010-08-25T23:45:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.mrambler.com\/blog\/?p=1075"},"modified":"2010-08-25T18:45:59","modified_gmt":"2010-08-25T23:45:59","slug":"faith-restored-somewhat","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.mrambler.com\/blog\/2010\/08\/25\/faith-restored-somewhat\/","title":{"rendered":"Faith Restored &#8211; Somewhat&#8230;."},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We had a <em>runoff election<\/em> yesterday between two <strong>Republican<\/strong> candidates&#8230;.  <strong>Candidate #1<\/strong>, a <strong>Mr. Calvey<\/strong>, had been in the political circus for 14 years, elected 6 times, and expected to win the primary election a few weeks back with no problem&#8230;..  <strong><em>Problem<\/em><\/strong> &#8211; <strong>Candidate #2<\/strong>, a <strong>Mr. Langsford<\/strong>, had <em>never<\/em> run for any political office before, but, he managed to get enough votes to force the <em>runoff election<\/em> held yesterday&#8230;..<\/p>\n<p>Shortly after the <strong>Primaries<\/strong>, <strong>Mr. Calvey<\/strong>, who was definitely <em>peeved<\/em> over the situation, went <em>ballistic<\/em> and started a series of <em>mud slinging<\/em> you would not believe, including <em>fake polling calls<\/em> that berated <strong>Mr. Langsford<\/strong> (<em>Of course, he denied having anything to do with it<\/em>), and an extensive TV commercial barrage of how he was much more qualified, etc&#8230;..<\/p>\n<p>His <em>biggest<\/em> mistake was agreeing to a <em>televised debate<\/em>&#8230;..  It was something to see &#8211; It was the <strong>Bully<\/strong> against the <strong>Nice Guy<\/strong>&#8230;..  <strong>Calvey<\/strong> kept getting <em>louder<\/em> and more <em>boisterous<\/em>, making all kinds of accusations against <strong>Langsford<\/strong> as to his qualifications for the seat, including some remarks about his mother and family&#8230;..  <strong>Mr. Langsford<\/strong> kept his <em>cool<\/em>, and, in a calm voice, more than proved his qualifications and his ability to deal with <em>loudmouths<\/em>&#8230;..<\/p>\n<p><strong>Well<\/strong>, I&#8217;m happy to say, <strong>Langsford<\/strong> prevailed with a 65% to 35% win!  Restored my faith in <strong>Oklahoma<\/strong> voters, and, maybe, just maybe, voters nationwide will take the time to research the <strong>candidates<\/strong> they vote for and we can save this nation from itself&#8230;..  <strong>What a concept!&#8230;..<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We had a runoff election yesterday between two Republican candidates&#8230;.
