OK, what’s going on up there in the Great Northwest…… eh?….. I just saw on the news that you’ve got eight (8) separate wildfires going along with enough rain to cause mudslides afterwards….. I guess you can have your home burned down and mud slid away in the same day…… Not Good!…..

If you North by Northwesterners expect me to move up there (or even visit), you’ve got to do something about this!….. Pray to the Fire and Rain God – Something! – Anything!…… I mean I’m getting broiled and baked like a potato here in Oklahoma right now and our weather over the last six (6) months has rated a 9.5 on the Weird Weather-O-Meter…..

So-o-o, PLEASE correct this ASAP or I’ll just have to go the other way – Move to New Orleans and play in the giant oil slick…..

……Free Sauna – just step outside…… The heat index in OKC yesterday was 111 degrees – Actual temp was 96 degrees…. The seven day forecast is for more of the same – high 90′s to triple digits (shade temp) – 105 to 115 degrees (Heat Index)…… This is due to all the excessive rain we had a couple of weeks ago…… Actually, it’s been over six (6) months of record breaking/record tying weather events here in the Great (?) Plains…..

First, we have the worst blizzard on record (14.1″ snow) Christmas Eve, then a record tying Ice Storm in January along with record low temps going into February, then, snap your fingers, and we are 10 to 20 degrees above normal temps in March and April with no precipitation – Instant change from Winter to Summer…… In May we have two (2) large tornado breakouts, both along the same track – What the first one missed, the second one finished off….. In June, we had the worst hail storm I have ever seen….. Image baseball-sized hail stones hitting everything in sight Horizontally!!! The winds were in the 60-80 mph range….. Other than this Hail event we were dry as popcorn, UNTIL, Late June, in which we had our entire Spring in one day – Eleven (11) inches of rain in less than Five (5) hours – Record breaking and flooding where it has never flooded before….. No, it didn’t stop there, over the next two weeks we had two (2) more flooding events…… We’re like 10-15 inches above normal on rainfall now, AND THEN, two days ago, the Sun came out with a vengeance, and it’s instant Steam Bath time with all the moisture in the ground….. I predict the sky will fall this Fall (if we have a Fall)….. Chicken Little was right……

Of course, we’re not having any Global Climate changes, N-a-a-a-a, that’s just something those Green Peace nuts thought up….. Maybe people should wake up and smell the STEAM – It’s not nice to fool with Mother Nature….. Tell that to your Congressman……

I would’ve Posted this sooner, but, there was this visit from Jek….. He proceeded to re-invent my computer and reorganize everything!….. As soon as he left MR HQ, P.D. Bob decided he didn’t like any outsider (to him) messin’ about with the layout of things – so-o-o, he promptly reorganized everything to his liking….. Needless to say, I couldn’t find anything, personal or otherwise….. I just now found my laptop…. PDB was using it as a display base for his stuffed field mice collection…. UUGH!…. He’s on my list permanently…..

Anyways, back to PDB’s new invention….. The “Forked Tongue Weather Predicting Antenna”….. Here it is:

Here’s how it works: As soon as you receive your FTWP Antenna by refrigerated truck, install it where your factory antenna is installed…. The FTWP Antenna will begin immediately predicting the weather…. If the clear section of the antenna remains frozen, it’s still Winter…. If it slowly starts to lean and melt, then it’s above freezing, and, it’s still Winter, maybe early Spring….. If it melts before you can install it completely, then it’s definitely Summer….. The steel section of the FTWPA works almost as good as the antenna you just removed….. Oh, yeah, you can’t move the vehicle while the FTWPA is operating….. Be the first on your block to own one…. Only Three (3) payments of $19.95 plus $200.00 Shipping and Handling….. One of an extensive line of little known products from PDB Productions, Inc, LTD, etc…… THIS PRODUCT HAS A “BUYER BEWARE” WARNING….. Happy non-motoring……

I know, It’s the same old bitch about the electric companies again…… We’re in an ongoing Freezing Rain/Ice/Sleet/Snow storm right now, and, the power outages are already above the 150,000 mark….. In the 2007 Ice Storm over 600,000 were without power, and, some areas did not have power restored for over 4 WEEKS!….. According to our news reporters, “there’s nothing you can do – Ice builds up on the power lines and they come down”….. BS!….. They could bury the damn lines….. I heard all the sorry reasons why this can’t be done – 1. It’s too expensive, 2. The lines are easier to work on above ground (If they were buried, this would be a rare occurrence – just like water, gas, and sewer lines, which are buried), etc, etc….. It all boils down to GREED!….. The electric companies could care less about someone freezing to death due to a power outage, or, someone smashing into a power pole that wouldn’t be there if the lines were buried, or, someone burning their house down and themselves up by the inappropriate use of gas heaters…… Nope, they are only interested in PROFIT!…. They don’t care about loss of life, injury, property damage, or any inconvenience to the customer – Just as long as you pay-up every month….. They are quite happy to sit back using the same dinosaur technology that started with the planting of the first power pole in the late 1800′s!….. It’s the Twenty-First Century, people, it’s time to force the electric companies and their political cronies into it……

What other companies do you know of that would remain in business, when, at the most critical time that you need their service, it’s not available?…… How do they get away with it?…. They’re a PUBLIC UTILITY!….. All their power poles and lines are on PUBLIC PROPERTY!…. They are regulated (yeah, right) by the same local politicians that like to put money in their pocket also!….. Sadly, it comes down to the American voter, who, for the most part, doesn’t even vote, or, just votes the same crooked politician back in office….

WAKE UP, CITIZEN, YOU ARE SCREWING YOURSELF!….. Not only do you pay for a service you can’t get when you need it most, the electric companies pass all the constant repair costs on to you by going to the Corporation Commission (the politicians I mentioned earlier) and filing for, AND, getting an across the board rate hike……

Am I the only one who sees this?….. Am I that far off base?….. Let me know what you think out there MR Community Members on this subject – Only if you have the time – It’s really not that important – Don’t make waves…… (Point Taken? – I Hope So)

The earthquake in Haiti got me to thinking….. There’s a small town called Jones about 4 miles from where I live….. Usually they have 2 to 3 small earthquakes a year – about a 2.0 to 2.5, but, in the last 3 months, they have had over 30, yes 30 earthquakes!….. The highest being a 3.3….. That one shook houses where I live…. I was visiting Robo at the time and it felt like something was trying to push the house over from the South…. There was no noise, except for the walls creaking and loose items shaking….. You could feel the air pressure push on you….. It was weird…. I can image a 7.0!…. Man, I feel for those people…..

I remember that Seattle had one some years back that damaged buildings downtown…. Jek and Anon probably remember that one….

So-o-o, are we facing an outbreak of earthquakes?….. Is Mother Nature going to squash us from the inside to get even?……

Yep, Hosers, it’s been below freezing here in the Heartland almost constantly since even before the record breaking blizzard we had on Christmas Eve….eh?… Snow everywhere (even yellow snow) and c-o-o-l-l-d…… So-o-o, we’ve been annexed into the British Empire via Canada…. Take Off, eh?…… Here’s the details……

I woke up yesterday with a Royal Canadian Mountie knocking on my door….eh?… Wanted a cup of coffee and directions to the State Capitol to deliver the official annexation order….. I gave him a cup and told him to, “Take Off, eh?”…….

PD Bob showed up on a dogsled full of Canadian bacon….eh?… He had on a walrus coat and big fuzzy took on his head, and, a copy of Bob and Doug’s movie……. Hoser the dog was leading the pack…eh?….

Oh, yeah, before the Mountie left he told me he was also carrying plans for a ski lift project from Vancouver to OKC and back…..eh?…

There’s nobody out there that still believes in Global warming is there?… I’m going to pour me and PDB another cup, eat some fatback, and discuss it in detail…… Take Off, Hosers….eh?…

How’s those temps been the last week or so up there in the Great Northwest…. eh?….. Yep, I thought I would send you Northwesterners just a little taste of our Oklahoma summertime weather…. I wasn’t able to include the usual high humidity that we have though, but, I think you got the general idea…..

I’ve been sittin’ back and enjoying the pitter-patter of “Raindrops that keep fallin’ on my head” and much cooler temps than we normally get here this time of year….. I’ve been so relaxed and lazy the past week, I just blew everything else off and caught up on some reading…..

BUT, Alas, all good things do come to an end – The “Heat Dome” is on it’s return trip to Oklahoma as I type this with triple digit highs predicted by the middle of next week….. Oh, well, it was a nice break and everything’s green around here instead of the usual burnt brown we have in July and August….. No need to say “Thank You”, it was my pleasure to send you Seattle-ites a little of Oklahoma summer….. Hope you enjoyed it (Ha-Ha)………

Yep, that’s the forecasted temps for the OKC area for the next three days…… We’ve been in the triple digits for the past few days, and, it looks like it will continue out past the three days, and we are one of the, dare I say, cool spots in the state…… The panhandle area is racking up temps in the 115 degree range.….. I know I’m talking weather again, but, this is getting serious….. We normally don’t get in the “Big Three” temp area until late July…… August being our hottest time with an average of only 10 days over the century mark per year….. We will pass that figure by the end of the week!…… Here’s what’s really the rub, we’re over 5 inches short on rainfall….. It’s raining all around us, but, the “Heat Dome” keeps it away from Oklahoma ( HS – is Heat Dome a proper meteorological term?)…… Looks like we may be in for more of those wildfires like we had in April…. “Just What We Needed” – Yeah, Sure…..

How’s the weather elsewhere in the MR Community?….. I have to keep the A/C blowing directly on my computer and me just to keep us both up and running……..

If you don’t have all your thought’s together, you can always talk about the weather…… It appears to be getting weirder and weirder by the minute….. All of Oklahoma’s tornadoes and storms we usually get this time of year seem to be hammering Colorado, Kansas, Missouri, and points to the Northeast….. It seems the jet stream is staying lower than usual this year….. I even heard that Seattle has went 27 days straight WITHOUT RAIN!….. That’s unusual to say the least…..

I wonder if this downward (maybe changing is a better word for it) weather spiral is going to continue or level out at some point?….. Have we damaged the planet enough to cause an irreparable cycle of major unpredictable weather changes that will continue to just get worse and worse?…..

I’m moving MR Headquarters into Prairie Dog Bob’s underground bunker and wait for it all to blow over if possible…… It’s all just “Blowin’ in the Wind” (Robert Zimmerman aka Bob Dylan)…..

I’m sure at least some of you are familiar with this classic song by “Harry Nilsson”….. If you were in Oklahoma yesterday, you would have been trying to do just the opposite – Jump Out Of The FIRE!…… We had wildfires all the way from the Texas border to the Kansas border!….. One of the largest was in the SE area of Oklahoma City less than 4 miles from MR Central’s Oklahoma HQ…… J.J.’s abode was within one-half mile of the action……

Over one hundred homes were totally destroyed (the official count has not been determined yet), along with an equal number, or more, damaged from the fires….. I can’t think of a worse way to lose your home….. In a tornado, you at least have a chance of some of your stuff surviving, but, in a fire – it’s all TOAST!…… The constant winds we have this time of year (actually we have them year round in Oklahoma) was the major factor, along with super low humidity, pushed the fires to the limit….. To be more accurate, we always have Texas blowing and Kansas sucking, or, Kansas blowing and Texas sucking…… Yesterday we had both!…… Texas started it with winds up to 70 mph out of the south, then about 9 pm last night a front moved though, and Kansas started blowing between 35-50 mph which changed the direction of the fires….. It was not a pretty site……

I really, seriously, think I need to “get outta this place” (The Animals)…… We’re already had a tornado in February and now a firestorm, both within a few miles of MR Central….. Mother Nature has MR “bracketed In”, and, the only place I have to hide is in Prairie Dog Bob’s ample underground bunker……. I’m moving all the important stuff there before I leave to visit the Seattle MR Central HQ this following weekend…..

S-o-o-o, If you’re looking for a “Hot Time in the Ol’ Town” – just come to Oklahoma for a visit, but, remember to bring your flame retardant shorts and a map of the nearest tornado shelter….
