I was listening to Eggman the last 2 days and the topic of choice is the controversy surrounding the singing of the National anthem at Sooner games. Now it has been over 30 years since I set foot inside Owen Stadium for a game but I hear the new thing is at the end of the Star Spangled Banner the crowd says The Home of the Sooners. The proper words are The Home of The Brave. Some are saying that it’s no big deal but I disagree. The Song is the official song of the nation, our National anthem. It has lyrics that mean something, And many of our fellow citizens went to foreign lands and made the ultimate sacrifice so that we could have the freedom to sing that song.
Now some say “It’s just a song, one word doesn’t matter” But it Does. It is disrespectful to the memory to those that fought and died for our freedom to change the words.
University President Boren, and Head Coach Stoops have asked the fans not to sing that way but it seems to go on.
I say Just because we have the right, does not mean it’s right to do. Now this weekend we play the Air force academy in Norman, I hope that the over zealous half drunk fans at the game can realize that this might be offensive to others and sing it right.
Now don’t get me wrong I hope we send the AF Players back to Colorado Springs mourning their loss but lets show them that we have some class in doing it.
GO SOONERS
If you can read this Thank a Teacher
If you agree Thank a Veteran
If you disagree, Thank a veteran anyway!

Hollywood comes to Oklahoma, again….. There’s been lots of parts of movies, and, even complete movies like “Twister” made in Oklahoma, but, I don’t know if they’re on the right track with this one or not…… They’re already here and filming in Pauls Valley, a small town on I-35 south of Oklahoma City….. The movie is supposed to have a plot based on a young girl trying to get out of a small country town, but, it is based around the Oklahoma cult sport of “Noodling” or more commonly known as “Okie Noodling”….. Anon knows what I’m talking about….. It’s not the smartest sport in the World, believe me…..

Here’s all you got to do: Find a creek, stream, or river, usually muddy and with lots of nooks and crannies along it’s banks, usually covered with tree growth and underbrush…… These are basically small underwater caves cut in the banks just under the surface by the water flow….. Huge Catfish (40 to 70 lbs. or more) love to hang out in them, along with who knows what….. Then, just JUMP IN! – stick your arm in the hole, locate the catfish, STICK YOUR HAND AND ARM DOWN IT’S THROAT, wrestle it out of the water, and throw it in a boat – That’s it – Nothing to it….. No fishing poles, lines, bait or gear of any kind required! (including brains)…..

PBS has already done a special on “Okie Noodling” a few years back….. Just can’t wait for this one to make the theaters….. I’m sure Oklahoma will be honored with at least a few pages in “The Great Redneck History of the U. S. of A.”…… Yee-Ha!……

As most of you know, I don’t follow sports that much, but, it seems to me that there was an extraordinarily huge number of firing and hiring of coaches – both college and pro – this year….. Has the “WIN or you’re outta here” philosophy kicked (field goal – 3 pts.) in or what?…… I see the Seattle Seahawks have a new coach…. Just a warning, Seattle, you keep it up and OKC might just buy them and call them “Lightning” since they bought the Sonics and renamed them “Thunder”….. God, I hope not!….

I wonder if I could get one of those Head coaching gigs?….. Even if it only lasted part of a year, that would be a lotta bucks….. PD Bob said he would be the offensive coach…. I told him he was already offensive so he’s halfway there to being hired….. Any MR community members want to throw their hat in the ring for a coaching staff position?….. I bet we could do as well as most of them that are getting the big bucks and the Fame, don’t forget the FAME!…..

Since I got home at 1300 today the top story on the news today has been the injury of The OU Quarterback Sam Bradford. Ok lets get some perspective.

There are Thousands of soldiers serving in wars all over the globe.
The president is proposing a Socialized Health Care Plan.
A burgular was shot and Killed in Nichols Hills.
Unemployment hits 10% Nationwide.
Approx. 100 businesses closed their doors forever this weekend, adding to the unemployment figures.
The Scottish courts released a convicted terrorist last Month.
One of the Followers of Charles Manson and a convicted murder is trying to get perrolled.
The California highway Department (Caltrans) Is working on the Bay bridge to repair a crack found on thursday.

You get the idea.

But the news in OKC is more worried about Bradford’s shoulder injury. I’m sure it hurts but there is more pressing things that deserve the press time that is being wasted on this.
GET OVER IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It’s just a game it’s not the end of the world!!!!!!!!!!!
How about giving OSU the same amount of coverage for their win. Or how about this. Just a thought cover the sports related stories during the SPORTS!!!

……Somewhere – Anywhere…… As long as it is AWAY FROM Oklahoma!…… As most of you know, I’m not a real big sports nut, but, living in (or being from) Oklahoma, it’s just a natural thing to follow the exploits of the OU football program, even if you’re one of those OSU fanatics, but, for Mr. Stoops to pull what he did in the National Championship Bowl game this year was an embarrassment to the team and every Oklahoman worldwide!…… Now, mind you, I don’t care if the Yo-Yo embarrasses himself or his so-called coaching staff, but, when he makes all Oklahomans appear to be dumb, backwood hicks, which includes me, that crosses the line, and, it’s time for “New Blood”…..

The “Team” did NOT lose that game – Bob Stoops and his band of Cronies did, and, I’m not too sure it wasn’t on purpose!….. All season, OU has gone with a no-huddle offense, giving the opposing defense little or no time to adjust…… OU set scoring records doing this….. S-o-o-o, what happens at the Bowl game? The team doesn’t huddle, Bradford gets them on line, sets himself for the hike, AND THEN, the idiot coach’s start hollering and signalling from the sidelines….. Bradford stands up and looks over at the sidelines, while these goofs re-call the play, which allows the defense for the other team all the time in the world to adjust to what OU is going to do!!!…. Talk about telegraphing your intentions!…… If this would have happened every once in a while, I would have no complaints, but, apparently, this went on throughout the whole game…… I can’t say, at a certain point, I had to stop watching the Bozo coaches before I caused serious damage to my wide screen TV and/or me……

I did see OU‘s first touchdown, and, the only reason they got it was, for some reason or another, they left Bradford alone, and, guess what – Wham-Bam, a few no-huddle plays later OU scores, AND THEN, it was back to a “We’re going to run the game from the sidelines” again……. I couldn’t watch it anymore…… If I would have been Bradford, I would have went to the sidelines, stared Stoops in the face, shoved my helmet into his stomach and told him, “If you want to run every play, suit-up, and get your butt on the field”…… At least that would’ve gotten his head out of his ass (maybe)……

Like I said, it was too embarrassing for me to continue watching…… It made the OU players look as if they were too STUPID to know what play to run, or remember more than one play at a time, which, goes back to making ME look like I’m from a state that has no one in it smart enough to have any short or long term memory…… I’m sorry, I will not stand for some “WAY THE HELL” overpaid butt-head with his own agenda make my State, team, and me look like a bunch of hillbilly retards….. I firmly believe there was a lot more to this than a mere loss – Stoops didn’t act like the loss was any big thing to him (or unexpected) after the game was over…… If you taped the game, re-watch it, and draw your own conclusions……. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!…… GO AWAY MR. STOOPS……

I made this decision at the conclusion of that game – “I will NEVER watch another OU football game as long as Bob Stoops has ANYTHING to do with the OU athletic program“…… Tell me I’m wrong - The man can’t even beat Texas or win bowl games….. That should be more than enough for any true OU fan to want him on the next train outta town….. If you agree with Mr. Stoops, I’m sure there should be plenty of extra seats for you on the Stoops’ Stupedio Express…..

Yep, there were 22 men on the field, all with the same goal in mind…… It was OU/Colorado vs OU….. Both OU‘s offensive and defensive lines took a short trip to the Bahamas, or maybe it was a 4 quarter long “Starbucks” (or “Seattle’s Best”) break…… Oh, sorry, they were playing in Boulder not Seattle….. It was a 4 quarter “Coors” break then….. OU should have been penalized for “Non-Sportsmanlike Conduct” – They forgot how to play…… Don’t get me wrong, I’m an OU fan, but, they do this at least once, if not more, every year….. Go-o-o, So-o-oners – straight to the locker room….. Next Week will be the battle of the “Up-Set Losers” – Texas/OU….. I wonder which one will be upset enough to win?……

I know most of this community aren’t into sports, but I found this quote interesting:

“And if nothing else, we can say that Bonds is truly the greatest steroids hitter in major league history. I know, I know, that’s a stupid statement, satisfying to no one… but then again, as Chuck Klosterman pointed out rather amusingly, the Beatles took performance-enhancing drugs (how else do you think they came up with side two of “Revolver”?), and no one holds it against them.”

BTW, I despise what steroids has done to baseball, from a historical standpoint.
Music, on the other hand, is not really about statistics (other than record sales).
