I know Sunn is our official MR Community Coroner, but I think you might find this all interesting….. I just finished re-reading all 56 Short stories and four novels of Sherlock Holmes…. Sir Arthur Conan Doyle was a great writer….. All of the stories read as if they were written today, not over a hundred years ago for the bulk of the canon….. This is what caught my attention….

In The Casebook of Sherlock Holmes, the last series of short stories written circa 1920-27, the third to the last one written is named, “The Adventure of the Veiled Lodger”, a story of a woman supposedly mauled by a lion…… Here’s what jumped from the page setting off bells in my head, and, I quote, “It was six months before she was fit to give evidence, but the inquest was duly held, with the obvious verdict of Death from Misadventure”…… Apparently, In England, this is a legitimate medical term for people that die by intentionally placing themselves in danger….. I knew I had heard that phrase before……

I searched my CD collection and came up with “Death by Misadventure” by John Haitt off of his “Riding with the King” album….. It fits perfectly and I recommend the album highly….. It just goes to show that time may pass, but some things forever remain the same…..

Here’s one “I BET YOU DIDN’T KNOW”.

 He must his palaver balk;

Red Rag (The). The tongue. In French, Le chiffon rouge; and balancer le chiffon means to prate.
