I went into the local WalMart to purchase some fuel additive for my ’89 Dodge Raider….. With 180k on the odometer it sometimes gets in these sluggish moods…. The check-out lady asked me if I was at least 18 years of age in order to purchase the product…. I replied, rather snippy, “Lady, my car is old enough to buy this”…. As a matter of fact, the old Raider is now 21 – legal drinking age…. I think I’ll start giving it a shot of Vodka every once in a while….. Might work better than the manufactured stuff…. I wonder if I could convince a cop to arrest the Raider for drunk driving instead of me if the situation ever came up?….

I would’ve Posted this sooner, but, there was this visit from Jek….. He proceeded to re-invent my computer and reorganize everything!….. As soon as he left MR HQ, P.D. Bob decided he didn’t like any outsider (to him) messin’ about with the layout of things – so-o-o, he promptly reorganized everything to his liking….. Needless to say, I couldn’t find anything, personal or otherwise….. I just now found my laptop…. PDB was using it as a display base for his stuffed field mice collection…. UUGH!…. He’s on my list permanently…..

Anyways, back to PDB’s new invention….. The “Forked Tongue Weather Predicting Antenna”….. Here it is:

Here’s how it works: As soon as you receive your FTWP Antenna by refrigerated truck, install it where your factory antenna is installed…. The FTWP Antenna will begin immediately predicting the weather…. If the clear section of the antenna remains frozen, it’s still Winter…. If it slowly starts to lean and melt, then it’s above freezing, and, it’s still Winter, maybe early Spring….. If it melts before you can install it completely, then it’s definitely Summer….. The steel section of the FTWPA works almost as good as the antenna you just removed….. Oh, yeah, you can’t move the vehicle while the FTWPA is operating….. Be the first on your block to own one…. Only Three (3) payments of $19.95 plus $200.00 Shipping and Handling….. One of an extensive line of little known products from PDB Productions, Inc, LTD, etc…… THIS PRODUCT HAS A “BUYER BEWARE” WARNING….. Happy non-motoring……

I don’t think so!….. Here’s a news story that ran on local TV over the past week that should have never been broadcast…… “Due to the high cost of fuel, thieves are now drilling holes in the bottoms of gas tanks with cordless drills in order to steal gas”….. Why do I think this is Irresponsible Reporting?…. #1 – Unless you have a garage or plan to sleep in your vehicle, there’s not a lot you can do to prevent it….. #2 – They just gave every yo-yo in the world the knowledge of a very quick, although very dangerous, way to steal gas, not to mention the huge repair bill the owner faces to repair/replace the damaged tank…… I mean, if they busted a locking gas lid and/or a gas cap and stole the gas, you could at least drive the vehicle after the fact….. I wonder if the automotive repair industry has anything to do with this?….. Maybe they want their cut of the billions of profit dollars the oil industry is raking in………

So-o-o, get ya a cordless drill and low profile pan and hit the local unguarded apartment complex and get ya a free fill-up or two – if you don’t blow yourself up in the process….. The media forgot to mention the dangers of drilling into a gas filled tank and free flowing gas into a pan…..

To give out information like this that does more damage than good is totally irresponsible…… I really think something should be done about the media doing stupid things like this……

I know we have had discussions on the gas prices before, but this is getting WAY OUT OF HAND!
I’m seeing $4.00 + Diesel and $3.40+ gasoline down here in the south and in the Midwest. Now I know those of you in the great NW have been fighting these prices for some times and are probably saying “Welcome to our world Finally” But lets not argue about this that way, lets just say that we are all feeling the same pain. The point of my post is that these prices are not in keeping with the wages that are paid in this part of the country. In 1990 the average wage paid in OK was $10.00 per hour. In 2008 the wage has only been raised to $12.00 per Hr. In 1990 gas on OK was an average of $1.00.9 per Gal. today it is $3.35.9 per Gal. Now please excuse my math but that looks like to me an increase of 200.25% against a wage increase of 2%. Now all of you who in the past have discussed with me the economics of supply and demand and why the oil companies have to charge these prices, please take a step back and take all those formulas out of the discussion. Look at it from the average persons perspective, We can’t afford this much longer. What happens when you can’t afford to Buy Gas to go to work to buy gas? Now I know we need to cut our dependence on Foreign Oil, and our dependence on Fossil Fuels, I totally agree that in the long run that is the perfect course of action, but we need a short term solution to the immediate problem at hand before we look toward the prize of a Oil Free society.
Now I don’t know if it is OPEC, the Oil Companies, or the friends that they both have in Government but something needs to be done RIGHT NOW Our society cannot sustain this price gouging much longer before it collapses and the free enterprise system falls apart. Do the CEO’s of all the companies not realise that the more we spend on gas, the less we have to spend on other goods, that have to cost more because of fuel costs, Where does the cycle end?

This is one of those things that I’ve wondered about for quite some time and just can’t figure out…… You would think that the biggest business’s in Oklahoma would be in horses, cattle, or oil production, but, it would appear not….. Almost every other commercial on local TV and radio stations are from new car dealerships and new furniture outlets…… I think we have more of both in Oklahoma City alone than in Seattle and New York combined….. Just how many new cars and expensive furniture does a person buy in a lifetime?…… I personally have only purchased one new car in my lifetime and that was “way back when” they were reasonably priced…….. It would seem that the market would dissipate in a short time with the overabundance of suppliers and the high cost of a new vehicle or a quality piece of furniture. A person would not tend to replace such an expensive item on a regular basis…… Apparently they do with all the money the dealers sink into advertisement and promotions….. Or do they?….. I wonder if they are just a front for some other strange business ventures?…. Just a thought……
